Golf Learning Academy

Students enrolled in the Golf Learning Academy will develop a passion for active living through the sport of golf. The program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to be introduced to the sport, or continue to develop existing skills in golf. Students will be expected to play golf outside of school time, be positive role models and representatives of Rutland Senior Secondary.
The program will be taught in the second semester of the school year, and take place at both RSS, and the Okanagan Golf Club. Students will receive 4 credits and instruction will be provided by certified Canadian Professional Golf Association (CPGA) instructors.
Academy Program Goals
By offering a Golf Learning Academy at Rutland Senior Secondary School, we will be providing students another option to receive credit for Physical Education. Typically, Physical Education focuses on team sports rather than individual endeavors. With the introduction of a Golf Academy, we hope to both encourage students to take a Physical Education class after they are no longer required to take one, and to encourage students to participate in a life-long sport.
The academy cost is $975 per student.
Course fees cover CPGA Instructor Costs, transportation to and from the golf course, and a Jr. Membership with an Unlimited Range Pass to the Okanagan Golf Club for the year.
Students will receive CPGA instruction each class, both at Rutland Senior, and at the Okanagan Golf Club. They will have the opportunity every class day to develop their skills on the golf course and at the practice facility for the entirety of the year.
